KCB Rugby are the 2026 SportPesa National Sevens Circuit champions, securing a back-to-back record after reaching the semifinals in the final leg, the Christie 7s, despite not making it to the final at the RFUEA Grounds in Nairobi.
It all came down to the mathematics on Sunday afternoon.
Despite being eliminated by Strathmore Leos in the Cup semifinals after a 19-12 defeat, their perennial rivals Kabras Sugar also suffered the same fate, falling 20-10 to Menengai Oilers in the Rai Derby.
Coming into this round, the two sides were separated by just six points in the overall championship standings, with KCB leading on 98 points while the Sugar Millers were breathing down their necks on 92.
On that note, Kabras needed to reach the final to ensure they could overturn the deficit and win the overall championship by a point, while KCB, had Kabras made the final, needed to finish in third place.

However, with both sides now out of the main Cup final, KCB are mathematically crowned the overall champions.
The minimum points they can collect in this leg is 15, while Kabras can only manage 17, taking the final championship tally to 113 points for KCB and 109 for Kabras.
That means KCB have not only defended their championship but have also claimed it for a record sixth time, having previously won it in 2013, 2014, 2019, 2023, 2025 and now 2026.
The achievement puts them ahead of rivals Kenya Harlequins, Mwamba and Impala, who have each won the title four times.
The two sides will meet later in the afternoon in the third-place playoff, setting up another clash as they look to finish the season on a high, with the Bankers now awaiting their official crowning.
